Strategic Research Grant (SRG)
Deadline Extended to January 28, 2019
The Strategic Research Grant (SRG) program is intended to support small and large-scale multidisciplinary multi-sectoral research projects that are presented in the context of a program of research that is aligned with the strategic priorities of the network.
The purpose of the Full Application (FA) is to fully articulate your desire to pursue an area of research that is aligned with the vision of the Network and to allow reviewers to identify whether your request fits the criteria intended for this competition (see below for specific criteria). The Full Application will be due on Monday, January 14, 2019, with notice of awards by November 2019.

Major Industry-Partnered Research Grant (MIRG)
Deadline Extended to January 28, 2019
The Major Industry-Partnered Research Grant (MIRG) program is designed to support new transdisciplinary research Projects which are primarily industry focused and that are aligned with the Network’s strategic priorities.
Up to $200,000 per year for three years is available for projects that include partner cash and in-kind contributions of 3:1 of which at least 75% must be cash. The Full Application will be due on Monday, January 14, 2019, with notice of awards by November 2019.

Social Sciences Grant
Deadline Extended to January 28, 2019
This award recognizes outstanding publications authored by a CHAT Trainee through nomination from CANet Network Investigators. There will be one award for each of the following categories: basic research paper, and a clinical research paper.
The purpose of the Focused Investment Program (FIP) – Social Sciences is to provide funding to support the examination of new approaches to research critical to the transformation of arrhythmia care practices in Canada. The objectives of the FIP – Social Sciences are to:
- Build knowledge, understanding, and capacity within interdisciplinary and/or cross-sector research teams.
- Mobilize research knowledge around critical social, cultural and technological issues related to the promotion of an accessible and sustainable healthcare system for arrhythmia health.
- Deepen understandings that inform solutions employed in the transformation of arrhythmia care practices in Canada.
FIP – Social Sciences Projects must be focused on research that is aligned with CANet’s strategic plan and have the potential to integrate into larger CANet Programs/Projects (see 2016-2019 Strategic Plan.). Up to $150,000 can be requested (over a maximum of 2 years) is available for Projects in areas aligned with CANet’s strategic priorities. Matching funds are not required but recommended. A maximum of one FIP-Social Sciences program can be held at any one time by a Network Investigator. Senior Investigators (>10 years) are strongly encouraged to include and mentor a junior co-PI on the Project.

Commercialization Grant
Deadline Extended to January 28, 2019
The Commercialization Grant provides funds to accelerate the development of promising technology (device, software, smartphone app, therapeutic, or diagnostic) originating from the university and/or college sector and promote its transfer into the Canadian healthcare environment. The Commercialization Grant provides funding to CANet Network Investigators or CHAT Members to support research and development projects with recognized technology transfer potential.
This is achieved through defined phases by providing crucial assistance in the early stages of technology validation and market connection. All commercialization activities must help CANet meet its 10-20-30 goals as described in the 2016-2019 Strategic Plan.
Up to $150,000 for a duration of max. 1 year is available to support the commercialization activities in areas aligned with CANet’s strategic priorities of Network Investigators and CHAT Members. Matching partner contributions are preferred but not required. A maximum of one commercialization grant can be held at any one time by a Network Investigator or CHAT Member.

SEED Grant
(Unchanged) Deadline: December 14, 2018
The Seed Grant provides funding for pilot studies in arrhythmia research to gain preliminary results which can strengthen applications for CANet’s larger grants such as the Strategic Research Grant (SRG).
SEED Grants must be focused on research that has the potential to grow into larger CANet Programs. Up to $25,000 is available (max. 1 year duration) for Projects in areas aligned with CANet’s strategic priorities. Matching funds are not required but recommended. A maximum of one SEED grants can be held at any one time by a Network Investigator. Senior Investigators (>10 years) are strongly encouraged to include and mentor a junior co-PI on the Project. Network Investigators will be encouraged to apply for a CANet Strategic Research Grant (SRG) after the completion of the SEED grant, if applicable.
